Pilates Class Descriptions
Matwork Pilates
My matwork classes are excellent if you are wanting to improve your core stability and posture. As the class is matwork based, the exercises are non impact and therefore suitable for all adults no matter your fitness level. The classes are ideal for everyone, from complete novices to those who have been attending Pilates classes for years. If you are new to Pilates or if you are coming on the recommendation of a practitioner (such as a physiotherapist or your doctor) I do advise a one-to-one class with you. The one hour lesson includes a health screening and postural assessment which will allow me to prescribe the best exercises for your body. |
Pregnancy Antenatal Pilates
Congratulations, you are pregnant! Let’s get you moving! The antenatal pregnancy Pilates classes are perfect to maintain your natural strength in preparation for your growing bump and to deliver your bundle of joy. During the classes you will be moving through a variety of positions to ensure strategic muscles are strengthened while others can relax. Pilates is excellent to help with the changes your body goes through during pregnancy. These classes are great from 16 weeks of pregnancy onwards and you have no issues with your pregnancy. If you do have any worries, please contact your GP for advice. |
Postnatal Pilates
Congratulations on the birth of your baby (or babies)! Now that they are out in the world you may feel it is time to regain your pre-baby body. The postnatal pregnancy Pilates classes are an excellent foundation to get your body moving and strong again. Working through a range of positions and developmental exercises the postnatal classes are specifically tailored to your needs as a new mum and will help you look after your body as well as look after your baby! The mum & baby class (aka the bring your baby along class!) is a great way to get moving again and will allow you to exercise while not being too far from your baby - classes are best for pre-crawling babies! |
These classes are suitable from 6 weeks post birth or whenever your GP has given you the all clear. For c-sections you may have to wait a little longer, around 12 weeks post delivery before coming to class.
High Intensity Pilates
If you are looking for a little more 'oomph' to your Pilates workout then this class is for you. Based on the traditional Pilates method, High Intensity Pilates is an amazing 50 minute cardio workout combining core strength, balance and coordination. Based on the mat with a small pair of hand weights is all you need to get a full body workout. |
Group Classes
These classes are matwork based and are excellent for complete beginners to the well seasoned Pilates person! There will only ever be a maximum of 12 people per class to ensure that your body and movement is a top priority. Private/ Semi Private Tuition I am more than happy to arrange private one-to-one tuition sessions, which will prescribe the best exercises for you as an individual, at a time and place that suits you. |
