There is one thing I love almost as much as Pilates and that is shopping for Pilates things. From clothes to mats, foam rollers to bands, I am ridiculously happy to find new and fun accessories for my Pilates practice.
Below is a list of Pilates Paraphernalia that will help you improve your Pilates practice and look good doing it!

Spiky Balls Don’t let their torture-device appearance fool you, these little guys are fantastic! Their very nimble rubber spikes are superb for loosening the muscles along the base of your feet or down your back. Use them to roll your feet over while sitting watching television or simply roll them down the side of your neck and along your shoulder muscles, either way you will really begin to feel your muscles de-stress. The added bonus of these little guys is a giggle when they roll along your feet. Looser muscles and a laugh – what more could you want? |
Foam Roller The wonderful Foam Roller. One day I shall write a poem dedicated to this miraculous toy! Should you be in the market for something that can stretch your body out and also work your core – this is your new best friend. There are many different types on the market but the one to start with would be a 6” x 36”or 6” x 40”, as it will be the perfect length for you to lie your spine along. Lie down in relaxation position along the foam roller – make sure your feet haven’t splayed – and feel out your spine along the top of the roller. Deeeeeeeelightful! |
‘Squidgy’ Ball If you are tight in the neck and shoulders this ball is for you. It can actually be used for hundreds of other things but my favourite way to use it is to let a little air out of it so it is – you guessed it – squidgy! When in relaxation position I then slip it at the nape of my neck, just at the base of my skull, and begin to just relax my head onto its softness! After a few deep breaths I begin to make very subtle circles and figures of 8 with my nose. It is honestly a great feeling which eases out any stress spots held in the neck and shoulders. |
Pilates and Yoga Leggings This suggestion is obviously predominately for women – although there are some great men's t-shirts available! Discovering unique, hand-printed yoga and Pilates leggings has become an habit for me. I am regularly online searching for little designers rather than big obvious brands. Might I suggest Etsy and Instagram for such people as there are many of them! Two main designers I have found are Schatzi Brown and Grizzy Love. Both of them ensure that their clothes are eco friendly and as an added bonus their designs are beautiful and bright! |
